Predator series includes:

Wikileaks (2011-13)
These monochromatic grid-like compositions take machine-generated night vision and heat-seeking imagery as source material. The Predator series focuses on representations of the ‘military sublime’ as it occurs in contemporary media narratives.

Hunter + Hunted (2012-13)
Source images are from infra red/heat seeking technology images used by hunters.

 

Joy Garnett's paintings have utilized representations of the 'techno-military sublime' since the late 1990s. The 'Predator' series (2011 - ongoing), is comprised of target or grid-like compositions that re-purpose the night vision and heat-seeking images she gathers as source material. Based on screen-grabs from declassified or leaked US military videos of secret operations, the Predator series takes technical images of machine vision and translates them as painterly objects of contemplation.
