"Flowers of Evil" (2012 - )
In keeping with the 'apocalyptic sublime', a metaphysical condition of astonishment and awe in the presence of huge natural or uncanny human and technological forces, these five paintings form the beginnings of a new series: 'Flowers of Evil'. Merging the explosive landscape with painterly tropes, they contribute to the development of my own painterly explorations of contraction and expansion of all kinds: the current economic climate for example, but also biological, geological, military and astronomical explosiveness. Flower painting and fiery ordinance all rolled into single images.
