The exhibition Beyond the Eye of the Beholder will be on view at the Israel Museum during the Winter-Fall of 2005. The exhibit examines ideals of human beauty in traditional and historical cultures of Africa and the Americas. The exhibit is one in a series of exhibitions mounted in 2005 to celebrate the museum's 40th anniversary. The series, drawn largely from the Museum's holdings and including notable recent acquisitions, investigates ideas of beauty and sanctity across a wide range of art-producing cultures.
