The Arthur D. Jenkins Library of Textile Arts of the Textile Museum recently announced the début of its web-accessible online catalog, TextileMuse:
TextileMuse provides researchers and the general public with a full catalogue of titles in the Library's unparalleled collection of textile-related materials.
The Arthur D. Jenkins Library is a rich storehouse of literature and visual resources that reflect and interpret The Textile Museum's collections and support research in the broader field of textile studies. While international in scope, the Library's holdings emphasize the traditional cultures of the Americas, Africa, and Asia.
The web interface, Horizon Information Portal by Dynix, will remind some web-savvy users of the Smithsonian Institution's SIRIS catalog, another Dynix product. Like SIRIS, TextileMuse provides both basic and advanced searching over a wide range of search indexes (such as Author, Title, Keyword) in several material types (such as Books, Music, Serials), including articles in periodicals. Advanced search allows for the limiting of searches and the sorting of results.
