The blog Savage Minds: notes and queries in anthropology recently invited Thomas Strong to add his voice as a guest blogger. Strong wasted no time, posting an essay he wrote last year (and never got to post) and which, as he writes in his preface,
deals with the display of living people, and particularly native North and South Americans, in ethnographic/educational contexts—not the sideshow, but the museum and the culture fair.
He posts it (and it reads like a full-length journal article) under the delightfully provocative post title In the Flesh in the Museum.
