iCommons iSummit07 - AiR panel - Q&A segment w/ Joy Garnett & Kathryn Smith on authors' control, dissent, fair use, permissions, remixing, purity of intent, mediation, context... via Vimeo.
As NEWSgrist readers are by now aware, last month I participated in the Artist in Residence program at the iCommons Summit ‘07 in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The other rep from New York was MTAA's Tim Whidden. Six of the artist participants spoke on a panel and put an exhibition together during the 9 days we were there. The seventh artist among us was Beijing-based artist Cao Fei, who spoke on a separate panel about her Second Life piece, which is also installed at the Arsenale in Venice.
Videos of the panels are online. You can download them in QuickTime: The Artist-in-residence panel where all the artists spoke (83MB) and another panel called Why Don’t Artists Use More Free Software (93MB).
