Goldwater Library Summer Hours

During the summer months the Goldwater Library will be subject to occasional partial or all-day closures. If you are planning to visit the library, you are advised to call ahead to confirm that the library will be available (212 570-3707).

Goldwater Library summer hours

As Goldwater Library rituals go, this might just be the most longstanding: the summer August closure. When the Goldwater Library first opened to the public here in the Metropolitan Museum in 1982, the Watson Library already had in place the August closure -- a chance for the otherwise nose-to-the-grindstone librarians to get away from it all and see the world (along with all those other August vacationers). Changes in the nature of the workplace, access to library information, and the year-round mass availability of airline travel have given the August closure a certain quaint fustiness.

But tradition is tradition, and so we will observe the following openings and closures:

Open, Tuesday - Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (except closed Tuesday, July 4)

Tuesday, August 1 - Friday, September 1, 2006
Closed

From Tuesday, September 5, 2006
Open, Tuesday - Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

STAFF HOURS
Staff hours remain unchanged during the summer. Please bear in mind that the library may be understaffed at various points during the summer.

Summer Public Hours -- Closed July

The Robert Goldwater Library will reduce public access to the library during July of 2005.

Through Thursday, June 30: Open Tues.-Fri., 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Friday, July 1 to Friday, July 29: Open to the public by prior arrangement and subject to availability only [please call 24 hours in advance: (212) 570-3707]

Beginning Tuesday, August 1: Open Tues.-Fri., 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Access to the library for museum staff will remain unchanged during this period.
