Film Screening
Steven Arnold's landmark film Luminous Procuress
Thursday, Aug 16, at 8:30
Monkey Town
58 North 3rd Street
(btw Wythe and Kent in Williamsburg)
Last seen at the Tate Modern in May, this is the first screening on US soil in over 15 years of Arnold's magnum opus. In 1971 the Village Voice hailed Luminous Procuress as, "a tour de force of the imagination—a journey through peekboxes of naked tableaux, theatres of mechanical dreams, feasts of monsters and piles of humanity," and when Salvador Dali showed the film, he claimed it was a "work of genius." Dreamy, radical, and lushly visual, the film is an intensely realized journey through the personal mythology of the seventies' most underrepresented artist.
The screening is free, but there is a $10 drinks minimum. Seats are limited, RSVP at: www.monkeytownhq.com/reservations.html
